Memora

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn how Memora anchors your documents, automates workflows, and manages subscriptions, all while keeping your data private and secure.

Getting Started

What is Memora?

Memora links your documents to trusted on-chain attestations on the Canton Network, giving you a verifiable, privacy-first foundation for automation and document integrity.

How does Memora work?

Memora hashes your documents and anchors that metadata to the Canton Network, creating a tamper-evident attestation that supports automation, workflows, and auditability.

Why should I use Memora to attest my agreements and documents?

Memora provides an easy way to prove your documents are authentic and unchanged. It creates a private, on-chain attestation that strengthens trust, streamlines approvals, and enables automated steps across your business processes.

Do I need blockchain experience to use Memora?

No. Memora is designed to be simple and familiar. The Canton Network ledger is used behind the scenes to provide verifiable attestations without requiring technical knowledge.

How do I get started once I sign up?
  • Once you complete the onboarding agreements, a credential will be issued in Cantara to the partyID you provide.
  • Memora Lite: You will receive an API key to interact with the Memora Lite API.
  • Memora: You will receive the Memora .DAR package to install on your node.

Document Handling

Where are my documents being stored?

Documents are stored in a secure off-chain database, and each file is fully encrypted before it enters storage. Proof-of-Storage checks are performed to ensure the encrypted files still exist and remain intact.

What file types are supported?

Memora supports all standard file types including PDFs, documents, spreadsheets, and images. Memora Lite supports text-only uploads with size limits.

Why not store full documents on-chain?

Many workflows force a choice between risky off-chain document handling and expensive, complicated tokenization. Memora introduces a third option with lightweight immutable attestations that keep processes simple, verifiable, and cost-effective.

eSignature & Integrations

Does Memora integrate with eSignature platforms like DocuSign?

Yes. Memora automatically hashes and anchors executed documents from supported eSignature platforms without requiring changes to your existing business processes or tools. Contracts that are executed through eSignature platforms have their metadata automatically mapped to Memora smart contracts stamped on-chain.

What eSignature platforms are currently supported?

Currently, DocuSign is supported. Please reach out if you have an immediate need for integration with other eSignature platforms.

Can Memora integrate into my existing systems?

Yes. Memora provides full API access so you can embed document stamping directly into your own workflows and applications.

Billing & Rewards

How does billing work?

After your credential is issued in Cantara, the subscription fee will be charged in Canton Coin at the current on-chain price. The total subscription cost is locked up front and deducted over the subscription period. If you cancel early, any unused locked Canton Coin will be returned to your partyID.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. If you cancel before your subscription period ends, any remaining locked Canton Coin will be returned to your partyID. Please review the Terms of Use for additional details on cancellation.

Does Memora guarantee reward share payouts?

No. Reward share is not guaranteed. Application rewards fluctuate significantly, so no specific amount can be promised.

How does reward sharing work?

You receive a percentage of the Canton Network application rewards generated by your activity. Actual amounts vary based on network conditions and the networks reward cycle.

Security & Privacy

Is Memora secure?

Yes. Documents are encrypted before being stored in secure, permissioned off-chain storage, and any metadata you choose to anchor on-chain is fully user-configurable. Canton's native DAML-based privacy model ensures the smart contracts processing these attestations remain permissioned and visible only to the parties you authorize.

What is a document hash?

A document hash is a cryptographic fingerprint that verifies the integrity of your file without exposing its contents. It represents a precise snapshot of the document, and any change, even a single character, produces a completely different hash that makes tampering easy to detect.

Does hashing expose my document contents?

No. A hash cannot be reversed to reveal any information about the original document.

Canton Network

What is the Canton Network?

Canton is an L1 privacy-enabled blockchain designed for regulated financial workflows, enabling private attestations and deterministic automation.

Why does Memora use Canton?

Canton provides strong privacy controls, permissioning, and secure automation that traditional blockchains cannot provide for enterprise-grade document workflows.

Automation & Workflows

How can Memora help automate business processes?

Memora enables automation by giving your systems a reliable signal that a document is present and in the correct state. When a workflow or atomic action depends on verified documentation, Memora provides the attestation that allows the next step to execute automatically.
